Bruins’ Pastrnak Offers Critical Take on Canada-USA Match

The 4 Nations Face-Off championship game on February 20th will feature a rematch between Team Canada and Team USA, following Team USA’s 3-1 victory on February 15th. The initial matchup was highly intense, showcasing both skill and physicality, including three fights within the first nine seconds.

While many hockey fans are anticipating the championship game, Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak has made it clear he is not among them. When asked about the Canada-USA final, Pastrnak stated, “I couldn’t care less who wins.”

Pastrnak’s disinterest stems from his disappointment that Czechia was not invited to the 4 Nations Face-Off. He has been vocal about this, memorably trolling the NHL after Czechia’s World Championship victory last spring with an Instagram post captioned, “Maybe Four Nation invite now?”

Connor Bedard Would Make Canada Better At 4-Nations Face-Off

The Chicago Blackhawks have resumed practice after the 4-Nations Face-Off break, with Teuvo Teravainen returning after Finland and Sweden’s elimination. Connor Bedard, who was not participating in the tournament, shared his thoughts on the event.

“It’s been unreal. It’s probably been the highest level of hockey ever played. I mean, that Canada game, first 10 seconds there’s 3 fights. I think people were wondering how it would be and it’s been unbelievable to watch. It’s great for the game, and obviously playing for your country shows a lot of pride. It’s been fun to watch,” Bedard said.

As a Canadian, Bedard will be rooting for his home nation in the championship game against the United States. While he acknowledges that he would have strengthened the Canadian team, he recognizes that his first half of the NHL season with Chicago wasn’t sufficient to secure a roster spot.

Despite not being on the level of established superstars like Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Sidney Crosby, or Brayden Point, Bedard is projected to reach similar heights. His impressive teenage NHL records indicate a promising career trajectory.

Bedard’s strengths lie in his exceptional shot and his developing playmaking abilities. He is still learning to utilize his shot more effectively, but his passing skills are proving to be a valuable asset. Playing alongside elite players in a tournament like the 4-Nations Face-Off could have accelerated his development, allowing him to capitalize on scoring opportunities and showcase his playmaking.

Looking ahead, Bedard is a strong contender for Canada’s roster in the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy. His recent strong performances suggest he is on the right track. While he missed out on the 4-Nations tournament, his potential to become an all-time great for Team Canada remains high.
